Giving at ZBCC

Financial giving is an expected part of following Jesus and an important part of church involvement. To read key scriptures and explore Biblical teaching on financial giving, please visit Biblical Financial Giving: An Overview.

If you have any questions regarding the specifics of these methods or other giving questions, please contact our church Treasurer, Phil Reynolds, or the church office.

Below are the current options for giving to the church:

Give by Interac e-Transfer: This method allows you to send a donation from your banking website. Send your e-Transfer of $20 or more to giving@zbcc.ca. Please visit Online Giving: Interac e-Transfer for important information on sending your e-Transfer. Donations via e-Transfer will be receipted in February of the following year similar to cheque/cash donations. The church incurs no fee for these donations. You may incur an e-Transfer fee depending on how service charges are structured for your bank account.

Give in person: Give by cheque or cash in person on Sunday mornings, either by leaving your offering in the secure lockbox or during the Sunday morning offering collection (when this resumes). Contact the church office if you require offering envelopes.

Mail a cheque: Mail your cheque to the church at 9802 – 76 Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB, T6E 1K5. In the envelope, please enclose your cheque along with your personalized offering envelope (if you have one) with the date and amount written on the offering envelope.

Give online through CanadaHelps: This method allows you to give a one-time donation or set up a recurring donation via CanadaHelps, a highly reputable online giving platform. You will receive a charitable receipt from CanadaHelps who will forward the funds, less a 3.50% processing fee, to the church. To donate online, please proceed to CanadaHelps.

For donations made directly to the church, an annual tax receipt will be provided in February of the following year.

At Zion, we have two primary offerings that we take:

General Fund

Each week we pass offering plates around in our worship gatherings to collect money for our General Fund. As members, we approve our budget each year, with the prayer that 100% of this money goes directly to the work of God’s Kingdom locally and globally. We budget more than a third of this fund to support Christian work beyond the ministries of our church supporting many missionaries both locally and internationally, a number of organizations that are involved in the spread of the gospel, as well as other practical, helpful ministries. The remaining funds support the various ministries and efforts of Zion Baptist Community Church. Copies of the current budget are available from the church office upon request.

Benevolent Fund

Each time we share in communion (typically the first Sunday of each month), we take a second offering called our Benevolent Fund. This money is used by our Ministry Council & Ministry Coordinators to help those with urgent, practical needs in our church body and beyond.
