Tools for Studying the Bible Workshop With Dr. Jerry Shepherd

- Why do people who love Jesus, His people and His Word so often interpret some parts of Scripture so differently?
- Who is able to read and interpret the Bible? Are there tools, methods or guidelines that can help me?
- Can we trust English translations of the Bible, or do I need to know Greek and Hebrew?
- How do I faithfully apply what I read to my everyday life?
These are the kinds of questions we want to help you answer in this one-day interactive workshop led by Dr. Jerry Shepherd.
Dr. Shepherd, who is well known to many at Zion, recently retired after nearly 30 years as Associate Professor of Old Testament at Taylor Seminary and is excited to share his extensive expertise with our church family.
The workshop will offer us all some basic guidelines for how to interpret Scripture, giving us a better handle on things like:

The workshop will offer us all some basic guidelines for how to interpret Scripture, giving us a better handle on things like:
- The challenges of biblical interpretation
- Basic tools and tips for studying different topics and words
- Filters for understanding and applying what we study in Scripture
Our time together will include instruction, practical exercises and time to dialogue together. Details regarding lunch will be announced closer to the date and will depend on COVID restrictions at the time.
