Study #1: Establishing a Foundation for Dialogue and Learning

Information relating to our gathering on March 8th, 2022

Before our first meeting, please set aside some time to read the article: "Egalitarians and Complementarians Together? A Modest Proposal", by Timothy George. I (Pastor Nick) appreciate the way that George outlines the unbiblical extremes to avoid, his emphasis on humility in conversation, and a host of convictions that all who claim Christ and His Word can share and celebrate.
In case you missed it, we had hoped that all who joined this study would participate in our Bible study tools workshop last month. The desire was simply that we would each come to this process with some common language and tools, and perhaps a shared ability to more easily recognize our own biases together. If you weren't able to participate, you can still access recordings and resources: Tools for Studying the Bible Workshop (recordings and resources).

Our Commitments

  1. Careful study - Honesty and diligence before the Word of God (Acts 17:11)
  2. Unhurried reflection - Content to let the Bible be silent where is it silent and open-minded where the Bible does have something to say.
  3. Charity and humility - "...making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." (Eph 4:3)
  4. Constant prayer - For ourselves, our fellow study participants and our church body.
